Instructions for Authors of the
Journal of the Technical Association of Refractories, Japan
1.
Definition of the Journal
This publication is an interdisciplinary and internationally opened journal covering
the science and technology of
high-temperature materials centering on the field of refractories. Submissions
of papers from any person, from
any countries are greatly welcomed.
2.
Responsibility for manuscript
The author alone is responsible for his statements.
3.
Type and length of article
3.1.
Types of Articles acceptable
are Papers, Notes, Comments, Reports, Reviews,
Conference Reports, Point of View, A Country As It Is and Coffee Break.
3.2.
The number of pages
will include the abstract, tables, figures and photographs.
3.3.
Papers should present new
findings and original concepts with complete
discussion. They should normally be no longer than 7 printed pages and not have
been published to date in any other publication.
3.4.
Notes
describe uncompleted researches and include new findings or valuable data. They
should normally be no longer than 2 printed pages.
3.5.
Comments are
an expression of opinion, concerning an article published in the Journal. It
should be one printed page.
3.6.
Reports describe technical findings which will actually
be useful in practical applications. They should normally be no longer than 7
printed pages.
3.7.
Reviews summarize studies on a specific subject by introducing the author's
own opinions concerning recent progress and future prospects to give a balanced
assessment. They should normally be no longer than 9 printed pages.
3.8.
Conference Reports describe summaries or reviews of
technological conferences held in the world. They should normally be no longer
than 5 pages.
3.9.
Point of View
describes the situation and future
trends of high temperature
materials.
3.10.Coffee
Break
describes free opinion and essays on any subject. It should normally be one
printed page.
3.11.A
Country As It Is
describes recent trends or topics in a Country. It should normally be no longer
than 5 printed pages.
4.
Language and units
4.1. The language for
contributions is English.
4.2. SI units are to be used.
5.
Submission of manuscripts
5.1. Manuscripts with all illustrations should be submitted as an
original artwork, but the duplicate excluding photographs can be a photocopy.
5.2. When there is any published
paper by the same author directly related to the submitted papers, notes or
reports, it is desirable to attach a copy.
5.3. The Editorial Committee
welcomes attaching a 3.5-inch floppy disc formatted in MS-DOS on which
the text of the manuscripts are written. A paper attaching a file by E-mail is
also welcomed.

6.
Acceptance and review of manuscript
6.1. The received date is the
arrival dated of a manuscript, and the accepted date is the approval date for
publication by the Editorial Committee.
6.2. Review by a referee(s) is
required for all papers, notes, reviews and reports, and acceptance is decided
by the Editorial Committee based on this.
6.3. Review by the Editorial
Committee is required for Point of View, Coffee Break and A Country As It Is.
7.
Copyright
7.1. The copyright of any articles
published in the Journal of the Technical Association of Refractories, Japan
belongs to the Technical Association of Refractories, Japan
7.2. The contribution of a
manuscript supposes that the author has no objection to the transfer of the copyright
to the Technical Association of Refractories, Japan. Also it is supposed that the author(s) has no objection to
the translation of the articles published in the Journal into
Japanese for TAIKABUTSU, an Japanese edition of the Journal.
7.3. When the authors want to
use their own articles for any purpose in any form, approval in writing must be
obtained in advance from the Technical Association of Refractories, Japan.
8.
Page charge
There is no page charge.
9.
Reprint order
An application for reprints is made by the order
form on returning the galley proof.
10.
Rules for preparing manuscripts
The guide as to the preparation of manuscripts
is given in "Guide for the Preparation of Manuscripts".
